Rome - inside the Pantheon. None of our pictures does this justice. It was absolutely beautiful inside. It was finished around 125AD under the direction of the emperor Hadrian. In the center of the huge dome (43m diameter) is a hole (9m) to let in sunlight. It also lets in rain. The floors are therefore sloped down from the center for drainage. It was wet inside the day we visited from the previous nights rain. Posted by Hello
